About Her
At 66 I don't feel my age, and am often told I seem 15 years younger (a problem with men I might meet in 'real life').
Definitely an intellectual, I love swimming, walking- though not a 'sportswoman', am definitely not sedentary.
A teacher/researcher at a Paris University (Linguistics- and Translation Studies) for... 39 years, I retired in Sept. 2020.
I'd love to share the rest of my life with someone who's kind, considerate, honest - and with whom I can share conversation other than superficial (in some situations, silence can be as good as language).
My biggest fault, I suppose...: I find it difficult to put up with hot weather, as well as with very bright sun (I'm fair-skinned, and my skin is very sensitive).
My flat, in a very pleasant, animated area of Paris, still also hosts my 22 year-old son, who's a Science student at Paris University; but he'll be leaving in one or two years' time at the very most: I'll then be completely alone, and "free of all financial burdens".
I love swimming... even when the water's a bit cold, as it is now in Paris pools! Elisabeth.

My ideal match?...
I long for tenderness. Affection, gentle touch- call it what you will. "Good looks" are pleasant ; but presence, being "there, and wholly there"... that means the world to me.
I know from experience I couldn't share my life with someone who's not at all an intellectual; and yet, really intelligent people are humble. Being curious about books, art, languages - all that makes for wonderful sharing. I adore walking, which goes well, I've noticed, with serious, reflective conversation. I 'd also be delighted to share my love for swimming (even though I'm just a passable swimmer): backstroke does wonders for people who work sitting, which is the case for most 'intellectuals'. Another thing I'd like to share is my love of paintings. I'm not much into 'modern' painting... I adore the Danish "Skagen painters", and also, contemporary US 'plein air'. As for books... I've always read a lot (my main occupation, along with writing). I'm especially fondness of philosophy, biographies - and poetry. I read a lot of foreign writers ('Central Europeans': many Hungarians- but also Mihail Sebastian, Robert Musil, Thomas Mann...).
Of my three sons (aged 27, 25 and 22), only the youngest is still living 'at home' (in my flat). But he's very independent. My close friends find him great company to adult people their age, too. My son will be leaving my home within 1-2 years.
